Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 37-bed Medical Surgical unit with a night shift patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Monitor and respond to telemetry events as communicated by central monitor technicians, with strip visualization available on the floor
• Manage patients on common drips including Lasix and Heparin, and care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Care for a diverse patient population including those with COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, Pneumonia, and post-surgical diagnoses (hips, knees, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resections)
• Document and manage care using EPIC EMR
• Float to other units as needed based on competency, assuming a full patient assignment when floating

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free workplace policy
• Willingness to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and every other holiday as scheduling requires
• Ability to complete a 3-day unit and hospital/EMR orientation (2 days on the floor, 1 day hospital/EMR)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with EPIC EMR
• Experience caring for telemetry, BiPAP, CPAP, or high-flow patients in a Medical Surgical setting
• Familiarity with post-surgical patient care and common Med-Surg diagnoses
