Pelvic PT (Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist)

1) Job Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat pelvic floor dysfunctions (e.g., urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, postpartum recovery)

Develop individualized rehabilitation plans (exercise-based and manual therapy)

Perform:

Pelvic muscle training (e.g., Kegels)

Manual therapy (internal and external techniques)

Postural and breathing training

Educate patients on:

Bladder and bowel habits

Postpartum recovery

Sexual health and function

Collaborate with physicians (OB-GYN, urology)

Track and document treatment progress and outcomes

2) Qualifications

Education:

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)

Licensure:

State Physical Therapist license

Specialized Training:

Pelvic health certifications (e.g., Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute)

Experience:

Preferred experience in women's health or pelvic rehab

Core Competencies:

Advanced knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics

One-on-one therapy skills

Strong communication in sensitive/private settings

Work Settings:

Outpatient clinics, hospitals, private practices
