Role Description

We are seeking a highly organized, reliable, and clinically strong Medical Assistant to support both front and back office operations. This role requires someone who can function in a fast-paced environment, assist with complex wound care patients, and maintain accurate documentation and workflow efficiency.

This is a full-time role for a Wound Care Medical Assistant, based in San Fernando Valley , CA.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical (Back Office):

  • Room patients, obtain and document vital signs and medical history
  • Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and wound care treatments
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields and supplies
  • Perform basic wound care (dressing changes, documentation, photography as directed)
  • Administer injections and medications as ordered
  • Ensure accurate and timely charting in EMR (Practice Fusion preferred)

Administrative (Front Office):

  • Patient intake, scheduling, and check-in/check-out
  • Verify insurance and assist with authorizations
  • Coordinate referrals, imaging, and outside records
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and facilities

Care Coordination:

  • Assist with communication between clinic, home health, and skilled nursing facilities
  • Track orders, labs, and follow-ups to ensure continuity of care
  • Support documentation readiness for clinic days


Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience (wound care experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and documentation standards
  • Experience with EMR systems (Practice Fusion a plus)
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume setting
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to speak Tagalog or Spanish is a plus
Preferred Experience
  • Wound care or surgical/dermatology experience
  • Skilled nursing facility (SNF) or post-acute care exposure
  • Experience with prior authorizations and insurance workflows
