Position Overview:
The Retail Pharmacist will be responsible for managing all aspects of retail pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, patient counseling, drug procurement, and compliance with pharmacy regulations. This role emphasizes patient-centered care, community trust, and personalized service, distinguishing it from traditional chain pharmacy environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately compound and dispense medications as prescribed
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, and drug interactions
- Provide patient counseling on medication use, side effects, and storage
- Oversee pharmacy staff, interns, and technicians
- Ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations and safety protocols
- Manage inventory, documentation, and pharmacy records
- Handle third-party billing and insurance rejections
- Build strong relationships with patients and healthcare providers
- Maintain high standards of customer service and community engagement
Requirements:
- Active California Pharmacist License (required)
- Minimum 2 years of retail pharmacy experience
- Pharm.D. or Bachelor's in Pharmacy (accredited program)
- BLS Certification (required)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations
Assignment Details:
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Setting: Independent Retail Pharmacy
- EMR System: Cerner
- Holiday Requirement: Not required
