About Us

Realism Is Loyalty (RIL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering at-risk and underserved youth and their families. Rooted in transformation and redemption, our work is centered on meeting people where they are and equipping them with the tools to build a better future.

Our mission is To Empower, Encourage, & Strengthen Youth in Spite of Story, System, or Choice. We believe in offering a "hand up" rather than a "hand out," fostering community and self-reliance.

Position Overview

At Realism Is Loyalty (RIL), we don't just manage cases—we transform lives. As a Mental Health Clinician, you are far more than a provider; you are a Clinical Architect. In this multi-faceted role, you will lead the charge in delivering high-level, trauma-informed care to at-risk youth and families who have often been overlooked by traditional systems.

We are looking for a passionate, seasoned professional who thrives where the "office" meets the "community." You aren’t just conducting assessments; you are building a bridge of trust in moments of crisis. You will utilize your clinical mastery to deliver evidence-based interventions that don't just patch problems—they spark long-term redemption and self-reliance.

As a key player in our organization, you will define the clinical quality of our services. You will serve as a mentor and leader within our collaborative team, ensuring that every intervention we lead is rooted in clinical excellence. If you are looking for a role where your license is respected, your clinical judgment is final, and your work directly reshapes the future of Grand Rapids youth, you belong here.

Must-Haves (Read Carefully)

  • Licensure: You must hold a master’s degree and a valid Michigan license (LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, etc.).

  • Empathy & Lived Experience: You must demonstrate a deep, personal understanding of at-risk populations and the ability to work with challenging, justice-involved youth.

  • Administrative Mastery: You must be proficient in the Credible system and Microsoft Office. High-quality, timely biopsychosocial assessments and progress notes are non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Street-Level Clinical Care: Conduct individual and family counseling sessions where the youth are. Develop intensive, reality-based treatment plans.

  • Crisis & Safety Leadership: Provide immediate clinical intervention for high-risk situations. You are the lead when a situation requires a higher level of care.

  • Care Coordination: Act as the bridge between the youth and the "System" (probation officers, schools, MDHHS), ensuring everyone is working toward the same goal.

  • Strict Documentation: Complete all assessments, safety plans, and progress notes within contractual timeframes. If it isn't in Credible, it didn't happen.

  • Team Mentorship: Work alongside our Youth Mentors/Credible Messengers to provide clinical insight into their daily mentorship work.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or related field.

  • Licensure: Active Michigan State Licensure (LMSW, LLMSW, LPC, or LLPC).

  • Logistics: Valid Michigan Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and valid auto insurance.

  • Background: Must pass a background check. (Note: A felony conviction is acceptable if it is at least two years old and probation/parole has been successfully completed.)

  • Clearance: Must have MDHHS Central Registry Clearance.

Schedule

Part-time. Must be flexible to support the team during evenings and weekends when crises occur and youth are most active.
