Job Description

Who We Are

At Compound Solutions, Inc. (CSI), we’re a team of Solutionists who believe the best work happens when smart, curious people feel supported, connected, and excited about what they’re building together.

Since 1998, CSI has been discovering, studying, sourcing, and bringing innovative ingredients to market that positively impact human health and wellness. We partner with researchers, formulators, brands, and manufacturers to help turn great ideas into meaningful products.

We’re collaborative, curious, and not afraid to roll up our sleeves when a challenge comes our way. We care about doing great work, building strong relationships, and creating a workplace where people can grow, contribute, and still enjoy the people they work with. CSI also offers a thoughtful, competitive benefits package designed to support our team both at work and beyond.

The Opportunity

CSI is looking for a driven, curious, and highly motivated Sales & Business Development professional to help grow our business within the nutraceutical, sports nutrition, and nutritional supplement industries.

This isn't a "wait for the leads to come to you" kind of sales role.

We're looking for someone who enjoys finding the opportunity, starting the conversation, understanding what a customer is trying to create, and helping connect the dots between an idea and the right ingredient solution.

You'll manage the full sales cycle- from developing new business and expanding existing accounts to understanding customer needs, presenting solutions, negotiating, and moving opportunities toward a close. Just as importantly, you'll become knowledgeable about our ingredients, our customers' products, and what's happening across the industry.

For someone who is naturally competitive, genuinely curious, comfortable opening doors, and motivated by building something, there's a lot of room to run.

What You'll Do

  • Develop new business while continuing to grow and expand relationships with existing customers.

  • Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities through customer visits, referrals, calls, email, social media, industry networking, trade shows, and other business development efforts.

  • Build relationships with key decision-makers and become a trusted resource to customers.

  • Understand each customer's business, product pipeline, and needs to identify opportunities for new ingredients, expanded ingredient usage, and cross-selling.

  • Manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle, including prospecting, presentations, follow-up, negotiation, and closing.

  • Maintain frequent customer contact through calls, email, virtual meetings, site visits, industry events, and trade shows.

  • Consistently maintain accurate customer activity, sales opportunities, correspondence, commitments, and pipeline updates within the CRM.

  • Gather competitive and market intelligence related to products, pricing, emerging ingredients, customer needs, and industry trends.

  • Attend trade shows and visit customers and contract manufacturers to strengthen relationships and identify new business opportunities.

  • Continuously build your knowledge of nutraceutical ingredients, formulation applications, market trends, and CSI's existing and emerging ingredient portfolio.

  • Partner closely with internal teams including Operations, Accounting, and Administration to support customers throughout the sales process.

  • Meet or exceed established sales goals related to revenue growth, new customers, account development, and other key sales metrics.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a business-development mindset- a person who sees an opportunity and wants to go after it. The right person is:

  • Driven and results oriented. You're motivated by progress, growth, and getting the win.

  • A natural hunter. You're comfortable prospecting, initiating conversations, opening doors, and creating opportunities rather than simply managing what's already there.

  • Curious. You want to understand the science, the product, the customer, the market, and the "why" behind what you're selling.

  • Competitive. Goals motivate you, and you're energized by the challenge of building new business.

  • Resilient. You don't take a "no" personally, and you're comfortable adjusting your approach and trying again.

  • Coachable. You're confident in what you know while remaining open to feedback, new ideas, and better ways of doing things.

  • Authentic. You build real relationships and understand that long-term credibility matters.

  • Adaptable. Priorities, customers, and opportunities can move quickly, and you're comfortable shifting gears with them.

  • Proactive. You don't need someone standing over your shoulder telling you what comes next.

  • A strong communicator. You can comfortably communicate with customers, the internal team, technical professionals, and decision-makers.

Experience We're Excited About

  • At least 2 years of sales experience, preferably within nutraceuticals, nutritional products, consumer goods, ingredients, or a related industry.

  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales goals and developing new business.

  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.

  • Experience in product development, formulation, or client-facing R&D is highly desirable.

  • Experience working directly with customers to translate a product concept, formulation need, or technical challenge into a potential solution is especially valuable.

  • Backgrounds within ingredient companies, flavor houses, contract manufacturers, supplement brands, product development organizations, or similar environments are highly relevant- particularly when the role involved meaningful customer interaction.

  • Experience collaborating with formulators, R&D teams, product developers, contract manufacturers, brand teams, or other technical stakeholders is a plus.

  • Experience using CRM systems to actively manage prospects, opportunities, customer communication, and pipeline activity.

We care about industry knowledge, but we also care about how you approach the opportunity. Someone who is hungry to learn, motivated to build relationships, willing to ask questions, and excited to pursue new business can be incredibly successful here.

Education & Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with CRM platforms required; experience with SAGE100 or a similar ERP system is a plus.

  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, organization, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Travel

This position is primarily remote, with required attendance at scheduled quarterly all-staff in-office days, as well as periodic work in customer, trade show, manufacturing, and/or other business environments based on business needs.

Travel may be required up to 60%, including customer visits, industry events, trade shows, contract manufacturer visits, and potential international travel.

Who You'll Be Selling To

Our customers operate across the sports nutrition and nutritional supplement industries, and you'll be representing a portfolio of patented nutraceutical ingredients. That means successful selling here goes beyond knowing how to pitch. You'll need to understand what customers are developing, where their opportunities and challenges are, and how CSI's ingredients may fit into the products they're creating.

If you're someone who enjoys the science behind the sale, the chase behind the opportunity, and the relationship behind the business, we'd love to hear from you.

Compensation

Base Salary: $90,000- $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Commission: 1% of sales, uncapped. There is no commission ceiling, so total earning potential grows with the business you generate.
