The opportunity

TOMAR Electronics is hiring a Director of Automotive Sales to lead profitable growth across our emergency and specialty vehicle lighting business.

We’re looking for a sales leader who knows the products, understands how vehicles are specified and upfitted, and has experience winning business through distributors, upfitters, OEMs and fleet customers. You will lead the Automotive sales team while personally developing strategic accounts, strengthening existing customer relationships and closing new business.

Our priorities include law enforcement, fire and EMS, emergency vehicle upfitters, specialty vehicle manufacturers, and UTV, off-road and military applications. Products include warning lights, lightbars, vehicle controls and related lighting solutions.

What you will do

  • Own the Automotive division’s sales plan, revenue forecast and execution, with accountability for growth, customer retention and margin.

  • Lead and coach the sales team, establishing clear account ownership, priorities and follow-through.

  • Personally develop and close strategic distributor, upfitter, OEM and fleet opportunities.

  • Grow existing accounts by expanding product adoption, supporting their sales teams and earning repeat business.

  • Recruit and develop productive channel partners, with clear expectations for training, demonstrations, stocking and sales activity.

  • Manage opportunities from initial outreach through product evaluation, quotation, negotiation, first order and ongoing production or replenishment.

  • Work with Engineering and Operations on customer requirements, vehicle integration, product feedback and delivery commitments.

  • Maintain accurate opportunities and forecasts in HubSpot, including decision-makers, expected order timing, next steps and risks.

  • Represent TOMAR at customer locations, product demonstrations, industry events and trade shows.

What you bring

  • Direct B2B sales experience with emergency vehicle warning lights, lightbars, vehicle controls, public safety upfitting or closely related specialty vehicle lighting products.

  • A record of winning new accounts and growing existing business, supported by specific revenue results and your personal contribution.

  • Experience selling through distributors and upfitters and working directly with OEMs or fleet customers.

  • Established industry relationships and an understanding of how purchasing, specification and installation decisions are made.

  • Experience leading salespeople and holding a team accountable while remaining personally involved in selling.

  • Enough technical understanding to discuss product selection, electrical requirements and vehicle integration with installers and customer engineering teams.

  • Sound judgment on pricing, margins, account priorities and customer commitments.

  • Consistent use of CRM tools and disciplined forecasting.

  • Willingness to travel regularly for customer development, partner support and company meetings.

Relevant industry backgrounds

Experience with companies such as SoundOff Signal, Federal Signal, Whelen or Code 3 is especially relevant. We also welcome candidates from public safety distributors and upfitters such as Dana Safety Supply or LEHR, and specialty lighting companies such as RIGID or Baja Designs, where the experience aligns with our customers and applications.

UTV, off-road, military or specialty vehicle OEM experience is a strong advantage.

What success looks like

You will build a focused account plan, strengthen the team’s execution and turn qualified opportunities into repeat orders. Success will be measured by profitable revenue growth, customer retention, productive channel relationships and forecast accuracy.

Compensation

  • $160,000 annual base salary.

  • Commission equal to 2% of Automotive Division revenue, paid monthly under the company’s commission plan.

  • $900 monthly car and phone allowance.

How to apply

  • Submit your resume and a brief description of the products, customers and channels you have sold into. Include one example of a territory, account portfolio or product line you grew, with starting revenue, ending revenue, timeframe and your specific contribution.
