Heavy Civil Safety Director – New York City – $180,000 - $200,000

A leading Heavy Civil contractor is looking to add an experienced Safety Director to their growing Heavy Civil division due to a strong pipeline of work across NYC and the surrounding boroughs. This company has a strong reputation within the heavy civil and heavy highway market and continues to secure major infrastructure, roadway, bridge, excavation, and utilities projects.

The ideal Heavy Civil Safety Director will have experience of managing:

• Heavy Civil construction projects


• Heavy Highway projects


• Bridge rehabilitation or bridge construction


• Excavation and site development


• Underground utilities and utility relocation work


• DOT / public infrastructure projects

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and lead safety programmes across multiple Heavy Civil projects


• Develop, implement, and enforce company-wide health and safety policies and procedures


• Conduct site inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action plans


• Work closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field operations teams


• Ensure projects comply with OSHA requirements and applicable NYC safety regulations

Requirements:

• 8+ years of construction safety experience with experience in a senior leadership position


• Strong background within Heavy Civil, Heavy Highway, bridges, excavation, or utilities


• Experience working on DOT or public works Heavy Civil projects


• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety procedures


• Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills
