Role Description The Residential Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Sawyer, MI, responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities on custom home and remodeling projects. This role coordinates subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to SCC’s quality standards. Duties include managing jobsite logistics, monitoring progress against plans, resolving onsite issues, definitive order placement with the Project Manager, and maintaining clear communication with project managers. The Residential Superintendent reviews drawings and specifications, conducts regular inspections, documents site activity, enforces safety protocols, and ensures that completed work aligns with design intent and building codes.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential construction supervision, including managing custom home builds or high-end remodels.


• Strong project coordination skills, including scheduling, resource allocation, and jobsite workflow management.


• Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and quality control practices for residential projects.


• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and change orders.


• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.


• Proven ability to enforce safety standards and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant jobsite work vehicles and shop.


• Basic proficiency with construction-related software and digital tools for documentation, reporting, and scheduling.


• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment when addressing onsite challenges and conflicts.


• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to multiple job sites in the Sawyer, MI area.


• Previous experience as a superintendent, foreperson, or lead in residential construction; formal training or certification in construction management is beneficial.
