Materials Supervisor

Position Overview

One of our manufacturing clients is seeking a motivated and organized Materials Supervisor to oversee materials management, inventory control, and production planning within their facility. This individual will be responsible for ensuring materials are available to support production schedules, maintaining accurate inventory levels, coordinating material flow, and leading a team to meet operational goals.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of manufacturing or warehouse operations, ERP systems, and inventory management, along with proven leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and develop materials personnel to ensure daily activities are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.


• Coordinate material flow throughout the facility to support production schedules and minimize delays or disruptions.


• Assist with production scheduling, planning, and material requirements to ensure materials are available when needed.


• Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages or excess inventory, and implement solutions to maintain appropriate stock levels.


• Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory, inventory reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution to maintain inventory accuracy.


• Utilize ERP systems to track inventory, manage material transactions, review production requirements, and maintain accurate records.


• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams to address material shortages, scheduling changes, and operational priorities.


• Monitor material usage and production needs to identify potential bottlenecks and proactively resolve inventory or supply issues.


• Establish and maintain procedures for inventory control, material handling, and warehouse organization.


• Track key performance indicators related to inventory accuracy, material availability, productivity, and production support.


• Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory processes, and overall operational efficiency.


• Ensure employees follow company policies, safety procedures, and established quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials management, inventory control, production planning, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.


• At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience, including directing daily activities, managing workloads, and supporting employee development.


• Experience with production scheduling, production planning, and material requirements.


• Strong understanding of inventory management, cycle counting, physical inventory, and inventory reconciliation.


• Experience using ERP systems to manage inventory, track materials, and support manufacturing operations.


• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments.


• Ability to prioritize competing demands and work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, preferred.
