Role Description The Cable Technician role is a contract, on-site position based in West Palm Beach, FL. In this role, the Cable Technician installs, terminates, and tests various types of network and communication cables, including fiber optic and copper cabling, in commercial and industrial environments. Daily responsibilities include pulling and routing cables, mounting and labeling network hardware, and assisting in building out structured cabling systems to meet project specifications. The technician uses hand tools and testing equipment to verify cable performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure work complies with safety regulations and company standards. The role also involves reading basic blueprints or floor plans, coordinating with project leads and other technicians, and maintaining clean and organized work areas throughout each assignment.

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience working with cables and cabling, including installation, termination, and basic troubleshooting.


• Knowledge of structured cabling systems and standards, including routing, labeling, and testing of network infrastructure.


• Proficiency with hand tools commonly used in cabling and low-voltage work (e.g., crimpers, punch-down tools, cable testers).


• Basic understanding of electricity and low-voltage safety practices, with the ability to follow all safety guidelines and site protocols.


• Ability to read and follow project plans, drawings, and work orders, and to complete tasks with attention to detail and quality.


• Reliable transportation to on-site locations in West Palm Beach, FL, and willingness to work in varied indoor and outdoor environments.


• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and collaborate with supervisors and fellow technicians.


• Previous experience as a cable technician, low-voltage installer, or related field preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., BICSI or manufacturer-specific) are a plus.
