Associate General Counsel, Litigation | Total Wine & More

Garrison has been retained by Total Wine & More, the nation's largest independent retailer of wine, spirits, and beer, to recruit an Associate General Counsel, Litigation for its headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced commercial litigator to assume primary responsibility for the litigation and dispute resolution portfolio of a large, highly successful, privately held company. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this attorney will work closely with senior business leaders, developing litigation strategies, managing outside counsel, and providing practical, business-oriented legal advice across the organization.

The position will involve a broad range of litigation matters, including commercial disputes, employment litigation, class actions, privacy matters, antitrust, and intellectual property disputes. In addition to overseeing litigation from initial assessment through resolution, this attorney will advise on regulatory and operational matters, identify and mitigate enterprise risks, and support the legal department on a variety of general corporate and commercial matters.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of sophisticated litigation experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or combination of both.


• Significant experience handling complex commercial litigation, including developing case strategy, managing discovery and motions practice, negotiating settlements, and directing outside counsel.


• Prior experience in a highly regulated industry, particularly retail or consumer products, is highly desired.


• Strong business judgment and a commercial mindset, with the ability to assess legal risks and develop practical solutions that align with business objectives.
