TaxSearch has been exclusively retained by a leading global organization to identify a Managing Director, Tax Compliance & Audit based in Memphis, Tennessee.

This is an opportunity for an experienced tax professional to lead U.S. and Canadian income tax compliance and audit operations within a large multinational organization. The position offers responsibility for an established team of approximately 19 tax professionals, direct exposure to senior tax leadership, and oversight of a sophisticated compliance function supported by strong processes, technology, and external advisory relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of U.S. federal, state, local, and Canadian income tax compliance


• Oversee income tax audits and controversy matters across multiple jurisdictions


• Manage and develop a team of tax professionals focused on compliance and audit activities


• Partner with external advisors and tax authorities on key tax matters


• Collaborate with finance, legal, and business stakeholders across the organization


• Drive process improvements and efficiencies across the compliance function

Our client is seeking a well-rounded tax leader with strong technical expertise, sound business judgment, and a hands-on approach to leading teams and managing complex tax matters. The ideal candidate will bring experience within a large corporate tax environment and a track record of developing teams while building strong relationships across the business.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant responsibility for corporate income tax compliance within a large corporate environment


• Strong technical knowledge across U.S. federal, state, and local income tax matters, with exposure to Canadian tax compliance preferred


• Experience leading income tax audits, examinations, and controversy matters, including direct interaction with tax authorities and external advisors


• Demonstrated success building, leading, and developing high-performing teams


• Proven ability to partner effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across finance, legal, and business operations


• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical tax considerations with broader organizational objectives


• Excellent communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to present complex tax matters to a variety of audiences


• CPA, JD, and/or MST preferred

Work Arrangement: Hybrid; Monday through Thursday in the office, Friday remote.
