Legal Nurse Consultant

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP is looking for an experienced Legal Nurse Consultant to join our Tampa office. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse who is interested in bringing their clinical knowledge into a legal environment. You’ll work alongside attorneys and other members of our legal team, using your medical expertise to help evaluate records, understand complex medical issues, and provide meaningful insight across a variety of matters, including medical malpractice. What You’ll Do

• Review and analyze medical records, case files, and other documentation


• Translate complex medical terminology, procedures, and clinical issues for attorneys and clients


• Prepare medical chronologies, summaries, timelines, analyses, and other attorney work product


• Research medical literature and relevant clinical issues


• Assist attorneys with medical issues involving standard of care, causation, damages, and mechanisms of injury


• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants in preparation for expert conferences, depositions, mediations, witness interviews, and trials


• Build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, experts, witnesses, and vendors

What We’re Looking For

• Active Registered Nurse license in good standing


• 7–10+ years of clinical nursing experience preferred


• Critical Care, Medical-Surgical, Trauma, and/or Emergency Room experience is a plus


• Legal nurse consulting education or experience is preferred


• Strong critical thinking, organizational, communication, and analytical skills


• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines


• Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced professional environment


• Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort working in a paperless environment


• Experience with iManage, Litify, radiology, or monitoring software is a plus
