Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Company Description Recovery Associates Group is a Joint Commission–accredited sub-acute outpatient behavioral health facility serving adolescents and adults. The organization provides evidence-based treatment with a focus on substance use disorders, complex trauma, and severe mental health conditions. Services include Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), offering structured, multi-disciplinary care. The team collaborates across disciplines to deliver individualized treatment plans designed to support long-term recovery and improved quality of life.

Role Description This is a contract, on-site Licensed Mental Health Counselor role based in Memphis, TN. The counselor will provide individual, group, and family therapy to adolescents and adults participating in PHP and IOP levels of care. Daily responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, documenting progress notes, coordinating case management services, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings. The role also involves crisis intervention, discharge planning, and collaboration with external providers and support systems to ensure continuity of care. Counselors are expected to maintain high ethical standards, support trauma-informed, evidence-based practices, and contribute to a safe, inclusive treatment environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Treatment Planning and Case Management for clients in PHP and IOP settings.


• Candidates should possess knowledge and experience in Mental Health and Psychology, including severe mental health conditions and substance use disorders.


• Candidates should possess skills in Relationship Counseling, family systems work, and group facilitation.


• Current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or equivalent in the state of Tennessee.


• Experience working with adolescents and adults in behavioral health or substance use treatment programs.


• Familiarity with evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care).


• Strong documentation, time management, and communication skills; ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.


• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
