Director of Retail Operations

Overview

Our client is seeking a Director of Retail Operations to lead three luxury women’s fashion stores in Palm Beach, Sag Harbor, and Nantucket. Based on-site in Palm Beach, this leader will bring consistent planning, strong store execution, and thoughtful team development to a growing retail business. The role reports to the founders and offers an opportunity to shape operations as the company considers future locations.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage an operating calendar that plans staffing, inventory movement, events, and seasonal transitions at least three months ahead.


• Set store sales goals with the founders and track daily performance, key retail metrics, and sell-through.


• Lead store teams, develop store leads, and oversee scheduling and part-time and seasonal hiring.


• Coordinate inventory transfers, seasonal store moves, and store fulfillment in partnership with the appropriate teams.


• Maintain visual merchandising, service, and operational standards across all locations.


• Oversee facilities, store systems, vendors, and discretionary operating expenses.


• Support trunk shows, local events, community partnerships, and new store openings.


• Travel to Sag Harbor and Nantucket several times a year, particularly around openings, closings, and peak season.

Requirements





• Experience leading an individual store followed by responsibility for multiple retail locations.


• Background in luxury or premium fashion, jewelry, or lifestyle retail.


• Strong planning skills and fluency in store KPIs, sales performance, and sell-through.


• A strong visual merchandising eye and a warm, hands-on leadership style, with confidence serving clients on the sales floor.


• Ability to build useful processes while adapting to the culture of a growing independent business.


• Based in Palm Beach or willing to relocate for an on-site role.


• Experience opening stores, a hiring network in key seasonal markets, or familiarity with Shopify POS is a plus.
