Financial Reporting Manager

JCW is currently partnered with a leading property and casualty insurer with a national footprint looking for an Accounting Manager to join its finance team. This is a high-visibility role overseeing key parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, with direct exposure to senior finance leadership. It’s a great fit for someone with insurance accounting experience who’s ready to lead a team and take ownership of statutory and GAAP reporting. This role is on-site in the firm's Manhattan office.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals


• Prepare and review statutory and GAAP financial statements, including the Annual and Quarterly Statements and supporting schedules


• Partner with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and treasury teams to ensure accurate reporting


• Support external audits and regulatory exams, serving as a key point of contact for auditors


• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, including SOX/MAR compliance


• Supervise, develop, and mentor a team of staff and senior accountants


• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve close efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred


• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in P&C insurance (public accounting insurance audit background a plus)


• Strong working knowledge of statutory accounting principles and U.S. GAAP


• Experience with reinsurance accounting and loss reserve reporting


• Prior supervisory or team lead experience


• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle, SAP, Workday, or similar ERP systems


• Clear communicator who can work comfortably with senior stakeholders
