In-House Counsel

Company Description The Feldman Companies is a privately owned real estate development firm specializing in self-storage projects, founded by Mitchell Feldman. The company’s team of experienced professionals has a strong track record in development, acquisitions, construction management, and project financing. To date, The Feldman Companies has completed over 4.5 million square feet of self-storage space and is actively developing an additional 1 million square feet. The firm recently launched Feldman Storage Capital, a loan program that provides up to 95% loan-to-cost financing to self-storage developers, helping them reduce equity requirements and increase returns. The organization continues to expand its footprint in the self-storage industry through high-quality, innovative projects and strategic partnerships.

Role Description The In-House Counsel will provide legal support and guidance across all aspects of The Feldman Companies’ real estate development and financing activities. This full-time, on-site role is based in North Miami Beach, FL and involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including development agreements, loan documents, purchase and sale agreements, and vendor contracts. The position is responsible for advising on regulatory compliance, risk management, corporate governance, and real estate transactions. The In-House Counsel will collaborate closely with leadership, project managers, and external counsel to support acquisitions, construction, financing, and disposition of assets. The role also includes creating and refining internal policies, managing legal disputes or claims, and providing proactive legal counsel to enable efficient, compliant project execution.

Qualifications

• Strong background in real estate law, including development, acquisitions, leasing, and financing.


• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and loan documents.


• Knowledge of regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management in a real estate or financial services context.


• Ability to analyze complex legal issues, provide practical advice, and support strategic business decisions.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and clear drafting abilities.


• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external counsel and lenders.


• Licensed attorney (JD) in good standing; admission to practice law in Florida or ability to obtain promptly preferred.


• Several years of relevant legal experience, ideally in-house or with a law firm focused on real estate or commercial finance.


• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.


• High level of professional integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory practices.
