Cabinet Maker
Job Description
Sandy Vans | San Diego, CA | Full-Time
Sandy Vans is looking for a skilled Cabinet Specialist to join our production team building premium adventure vans at our San Diego headquarters. We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a woodshop, takes pride in precision, and wants more than just another cabinet-making job. This role has a clear opportunity to grow into a Cabinetry Team Lead, helping lead our team, improve our processes, and drive the development of new custom van builds.
- Build, assemble, finish, and install custom cabinetry for Sandy Vans builds
- Work from drawings, measurements, templates, and build specifications
- Operate woodworking tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Produce high-quality work with excellent fit, finish, and attention to detail
- Troubleshoot and solve challenges that come with building cabinetry inside vehicles
- Collaborate with our design, engineering, and production teams
- Help prototype new cabinetry, layouts, storage solutions, and custom features
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe workspace
- Help establish repeatable processes as Sandy Vans continues to scale
We're looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
For the right person, this position can develop into a Cabinetry Team Lead role with responsibility for:
- Leading and training other cabinet builders
- Managing cabinetry quality and production timelines
- Improving shop processes and build efficiency
- Working with leadership on new layouts and custom builds
- Turning creative ideas into production-ready solutions
- Helping establish Sandy Vans' cabinetry standards as we continue to grow
We don't just want someone who can follow a cut list. We want someone who eventually wants to help create the next one.
- Professional cabinetry, woodworking, finish carpentry, millwork, or similar experience
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction and installation
- Confidence using common woodworking tools and machinery
- Excellent measuring, cutting, assembly, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Someone dependable who takes ownership of their work
- Interest in learning new techniques and taking on greater responsibility
Bonus experience: CNC operation, CAD/CAM, custom fabrication, RV or marine cabinetry, automotive interiors, electrical/plumbing integration, prototyping, or production leadership.
We're not a traditional cabinet shop. You'll be building cabinetry that becomes part of a complete adventure vehicle, integrating with electrical systems, plumbing, appliances, lighting, storage, beds, and everything else required to turn a Sprinter into a fully functioning home on wheels.
Sandy Vans has grown from a small San Diego van shop into a team designing, manufacturing, and building premium adventure vehicles and products. We're looking for craftspeople who want to help us build what's next.
If you're a cabinet maker, woodworker, or finish carpenter who wants to build interesting things and have the opportunity to lead, we'd love to meet you. Please email us: admin@sandyvans.com
