iWorld Professionals is seeking a Materials Engineer for our client, a growing manufacturing company in Rochester NY. This is an onsite position.


If you are a Materials Engineer that enjoys working as part of a team to help improve material performance, strengthen manufacturing processes, and support the development of products for demanding aerospace and automotive applications, then this position is for you!


Materials Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Recommend metals, materials, and thermal-processing methods that meet product performance and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop material and process standards
  • Establish and maintain specifications for materials selection, heat treatment, corrosion resistance, wear performance, plating, and coatings.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for machining and heat-treatment operations, including bright hardening, annealing, tempering, and sub-zero treatments.
  • Train and certify heat-treatment operators to applicable specifications.
  • Perform and oversee sample preparation, sectioning, mounting, polishing, microhardness testing of materials and plating, and corrosion testing.
  • Investigate failures by analyzing issues involving metals, weldments, and customer returns; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate outside testing and reports to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, equipment, and laboratory capabilities, including developing a technology roadmap for the lab.
  • Support quality and compliance by providing regular technical updates to engineering leadership.


Materials Engineer Requirements:

  • A degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing and metallurgical laboratory operations.
  • A strong foundation in metallurgy, materials performance, thermal processing, and failure analysis.
  • The ability to interpret technical specifications and translate findings into practical manufacturing solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and quality teams.
  • Ability to work onsite in Rochester NY.


Salary commensurate with experience $90,000 - $110,000 range plus full benefit package and career growth opportunity. Excellent work environment with smart collaborative team members.
