Field Service Technician – Industrial Automation
Location: Jackson, MI
Travel: Approximately 75%

We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, upgrade, and support sophisticated automated equipment at customer locations throughout North America, with occasional international travel.
This position involves significant travel, so we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being on the road and working directly with customers.
What You’ll Do
Install, commission, and start up automated equipment at customer facilities
Perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, machine setup, testing, and troubleshooting
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, PLC, and controls issues
Install equipment upgrades, retrofits, and system enhancements
Use PLC software and machine controls to diagnose equipment problems
Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Technical Support to resolve issues
Complete detailed field service reports and recommendations
Provide professional, customer-focused service while working independently in the field
What We’re Looking For
3+ years servicing industrial machinery, automation systems, packaging equipment, or similar manufacturing equipment
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Pneumatic and machine troubleshooting experience
Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial controls
Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
Ability to independently diagnose equipment problems
Strong customer service and communication skills
Comfortable with approximately 75% travel
Travel
This is a true Field Service position. Travel will include frequent overnight trips throughout the U.S. and Canada, with occasional international assignments. Projects may range from several days to multiple weeks, with employees typically returning home every other weekend depending on the project schedule.
Nice to Have
Mechatronics experience
Packaging, food processing, bakery, or automated manufacturing equipment experience
PLC troubleshooting or programming
Servo systems, VFDs, HMIs, pneumatics, hydraulics, or industrial networking
Technical certification, associate degree, military technical training, or equivalent experience
