<p><strong>Port Engineer - ATB Fleet</strong></p><p><strong>Job Summary:</strong><br />We are seeking a highly skilled Port Engineer to provide expert technical oversight and engineering support for a fleet of Articulated Tug Barges (ATBs). This shore-based role is vital in ensuring vessel maintenance, machinery reliability, regulatory compliance, and efficient repair planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on marine engineering expertise and the ability to manage maintenance programs, vessel repairs, vendor relationships, shipyard projects, budgets, and regulatory requirements from a shoreside technical management perspective. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the safe and reliable operation of a dynamic fleet.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Provide technical oversight and engineering support for assigned ATBs.</li><li>Collaborate directly with vessel Chief Engineers and shoreside management to maintain safe and efficient vessel operations.</li><li>Monitor propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment, electrical systems, and other critical vessel components.</li><li>Manage planned and corrective maintenance activities across the fleet.</li><li>Troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues, coordinating repairs with vessel personnel and external vendors.</li><li>Plan and oversee shipyard periods, drydockings, major repairs, and equipment overhauls.</li><li>Coordinate contractors, vendors, parts procurement, and technical services.</li><li>Monitor maintenance and repair expenses, assisting with operating and capital budgets.</li><li>Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS/class, environmental, and other maritime regulatory standards.</li><li>Review vessel deficiencies, inspection findings, technical reports, and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Support regulatory inspections, surveys, audits, and certifications.</li><li>Maintain effective communication between vessel crews and shoreside operations regarding technical issues and vessel readiness.</li><li>Travel to vessels, ports, and shipyards as required to support operational needs.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Strong marine engineering background with experience aboard ATBs, tugboats, tank barges, tankers, or similar commercial vessels.</li><li>Previous leadership experience as Chief Engineer, Port Engineer, Technical Superintendent, or Technical Manager is preferred.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of diesel propulsion, auxiliary machinery, electrical systems, and vessel maintenance.</li><li>Proven experience managing planned maintenance programs, vessel repairs, and shipyard projects.</li><li>Familiarity with USCG, ABS/class, and other regulatory requirements.</li><li>ATB, tugboat, or tank-barge experience is highly desirable.</li><li>USCG engineering license or equivalent maritime engineering credentials is preferred.</li><li>Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and vendor-management skills.</li><li>Ability to travel as needed to support vessel operations and maintenance.</li></ul><p>Take the next step in your marine engineering career by applying now and contributing to the safe, efficient operation of a vital fleet.</p>Pandologic.
