The Home Infusion/Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients. Other tasks include, but are not limited to, filling, referral coordination, communicating with patients and their families, labeling and delivery, cleaning of pharmacy area, inventory management, processing and filling prescriptions and supplies. Software used: CPR+, NewLeaf, Epic, OneTrack, and TherigySTM. Certifications: Licensed Pharmacy Technician within 60 days of license application - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Certified Pharmacy Technician Not Required - Student Pharmacist or Licensed before 1/1/2008 - Exempt/Not RequiredExempt/Not Required; Certified Pharmacy Technician within 2 years of license issue date (IL) - VariesVaries, Education: , Work Experience: Answers the telephone, takes messages, and directs calls to appropriate personnel. Assists in the coordination and completion of the annual inventory. Completes pharmaceutical records and other records as indicated. Ensures the clean room, warehouse, and related equipment are cleansed and maintained per organizational policy and procedures. Generates labels and packages in accordance with the dispensing order and under the supervision of a pharmacist. Maintains a thorough and accurate clinical record for each patient receiving care. Monitors for and appropriately returns or destroy expired or unusable drugs per policy/procedures. Participate with the pharmacist to enter and process new prescriptions and refills in the computer and to monoitor, maintain, prepare and pack orders for drugs and related supplies for specific patient populations. Perform miscellaneous billing functions, including patient charging and crediting, nursing unit charges, and controlled substance charging through manual entry into the computer, or with bar code reader. Performs and records various quality control activities and reports outcomes to the pharmacist or clinical supervisor. Maintains enteral records and billing functions. Prepares/compounds sterile admixtures using aseptic techniques and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Updates drug prices in the computer when changes are received under the supervision of the pharmacist or clinical supervisor.
