Job Overview and QualificationsThis department encompasses a mix of Med/Surg, Progressive Care, and ICU patients.
The Acute Care Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Collaborating with medical professionals, the RN provides both pre-operative and post-operative nursing care, acting as a patient advocate to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
Your Responsibilities in This Role:- Evaluate patient conditions upon admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in status.
- Carry out procedures or functions as directed by the medical provider.
- Accurately document care provided in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
- Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment relevant to cardiac and medical-surgical patient care.
- Experience: Minimum of one year as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred Experience: Strong background in hospital settings.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program, with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of starting the RN position. Grandfathering is accepted between departments and entities. Exemptions or extensions may be granted by the facility's Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and reported to the CNO Council. Facilities will track exemptions as needed. RNs with ten or more years of experience are exempt.
- Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Licensure: Must hold and maintain current RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply; licensees should verify with NCBON.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and CPI are required.
