Job Description

We are seeking candidates who will play a key role in the development and enhancement of our Palliative Care and Hospice Services, primarily within the inpatient hospital environment. This position involves rounding across various units, including the inpatient palliative unit, and will support the success of our Internal Medicine Graduate Medical Education (GME) program.

- Provide inpatient consultations for patients facing advanced or complex illnesses.
- Manage pain and alleviate distressing symptoms such as dyspnea, nausea, anxiety, and delirium.
- Support the management of end-of-life symptoms in the inpatient palliative unit.
- Facilitate advanced care planning, including discussions on goals of care, advance directives, and code status.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, chaplains, and case managers.
- Coordinate care with primary teams and specialists.
- Assist with transitions of care across different settings.
- Document all care and decisions in the electronic medical record in line with organizational standards.
- Educate patients, families, and hospital staff on palliative care principles and options.
- Participate in team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities.
- Involve in teaching Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents during their rotations.

Qualifications:Board certification is preferred. Candidates must possess a current Florida medical license or have the ability to obtain one.
