Exciting Opportunity for Family Medicine Core Residency Faculty

Our organization is pleased to announce a full-time position for a Family Medicine Core Residency Faculty member based in Fresno, California. The selected individual will play a vital role in both the outpatient continuity clinic and the inpatient newborn nursery, significantly contributing to the education of Family Medicine residents and medical students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in direct clinical teaching and scholarly activities.
  • Participate actively in the governance and development of the residency program.
  • Maintain a personal panel of continuity patients.
  • Supervise inpatient teaching rounds in the newborn nursery on a rotating schedule every 4-5 weeks.
  • Conduct didactic teaching during resident half-day education sessions.
  • Provide remote supervision for residents during after-hours clinic calls.
  • Contribute to the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) to assess resident progression.
  • Participate in the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) to oversee curriculum development.
  • Complete written and verbal evaluations of residents and medical students.
  • Supervise residents on the mobile health unit.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, case reports, publications, and quality improvement projects.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Family Medicine residency program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted medical license from the Medical Board of California.
  • Demonstrated experience in comprehensive outpatient care for adults, geriatrics, children, and newborns.
  • Recent involvement in teaching residents and/or medical students.
  • Clinical experience in managing both adult and newborn patients in an inpatient setting.
  • Current board certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
  • Eligibility for privileges in full-spectrum outpatient primary care and inpatient care of newborns.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
Working Conditions

The role involves teaching in the outpatient continuity clinic and urgent care from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00, along with supervising inpatient rounds in the newborn nursery during designated weeks. Inpatient obstetrics coverage is not mandatory, but opportunities for adult inpatient teaching service may be available for those interested.
