Position Overview
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers direct rehabilitative care in speech therapy to patients referred by physicians, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
Educational Background, Experience, and Licensing Criteria- Completion of an accredited speech therapy program (minimum MS or MA in SLP)
- ASHA certification (CCCs) OR eligibility for a 9-month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to obtain ASHA certification (CCCs) and/or fulfill ASHA credentialing requirements. Once obtained, ASHA credentialing must be maintained.
- Current registration/licensure in the relevant state, with an obligation to keep an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- Preferred one (1) year of experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- CPR certification required upon hiring or to be acquired during orientation. CPR certification must remain valid throughout employment.
- Engage in community health initiatives/projects as appropriate
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
- Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs
- Exhibit proper body mechanics consistently
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
- Familiar with practices, procedures, and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing operations in a post-acute care setting
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including but not limited to: patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others
- Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and/or sensitive information
- Understand and adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
- Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory Code of Conduct and other relevant compliance training
- Set, evaluate, and adjust realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals
- (SLP CCC only) Responsible for supervising and assessing care provided by SLP CFYs
- (SLP CFY only) Required to implement speech therapy treatment plans for patients under the guidance of the supervising SLP CCC, in compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Document care accurately and in a timely manner
- Utilize therapy software effectively and correctly
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
- Assist in the safe evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
- Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Engage in various physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
