Foundry Operator
Job Description
Position Summary
Tampa Brass & Aluminum Corp is seeking a skilled Foundry Operator with hands-on experience in metal processing and finishing. This role requires a strong understanding of foundry operations, safe handling of molten and high-temperature materials, and proficiency with hand-held tools. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-driven, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, high-heat environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely handle and process metal castings in a high-temperature foundry environment
- Operate and maintain hand tools such as grinders, band saws, and other finishing equipment
- Perform cutting, grinding, and cleaning of cast parts to meet quality specifications
- Identify surface defects, inconsistencies, and non-conformances in castings
- Support pouring, cooling, and post-processing operations as needed
- Follow and enforce strict safety protocols, including proper PPE usage
- Maintain production efficiency while ensuring quality standards are met
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
Qualifications Required:
- 2+ years of experience in a foundry, metal manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment
- Proven experience using grinders, band saws, and other hand-held tools
- Ability to work safely with extremely hot materials and in high-heat conditions
- Strong understanding of metal finishing and basic quality standards
- Ability to read work instructions and follow technical guidelines
- Physically capable of lifting, standing, and working in demanding conditions
Preferred:
- Experience with non-ferrous metals (brass, aluminum)
- Familiarity with casting processes and post-cast finishing
- Basic understanding of quality inspection standards
Work Environment
- High-temperature industrial foundry environment
