Job Summary: Provide full support for Quality Controlled Manufacturing Inc. Hand finishers/DeBurr is directly responsible for providing QCMI with parts and assemblies that meets company and customers requirements.

Specifically, Hand finisher/DeBurr will be responsible for, and required to be knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Comprehends English, proficient in reading and writing
  • May need to occasionally work 8+ hours
  • Primary responsibility for hand finishing/deburring conforming parts
  • Understands blueprints and can translate them into efficient work instructions.
  • Reads and understands finishing requirements from routers, drawings, and specifications.
  • Removes burrs from machined parts using various hand and power tools.
  • Polish and blend surfaces of machined parts.
  • Completes required documents and provides supervisor with accurate daily production data.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in proper working order.
  • Able to perform job duties with little to no supervision.
  • Complies with internal quality processes and documentation.
  • Inspects all parts he/she manufactures.
  • If quality issue exists with individual parts, tag the parts according to the proper procedure.
  • Determine operational objectives when setting up a new job.
  • Design burring process for any new jobs.
  • Refine burring processing for process improvement for current production jobs.
  • Participates in Quality Clinics, as needed.
  • Participates in any Lean or Six Sigma projects as requested.
  • Responsible for providing all his/her peers and reports with training when needed.
  • Assist supervisor and work with peers to ensure your department meets budget, delivery, and quality objectives. Use and practice 5S methods and lean manufacturing principals to accomplish department goals.
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly work environment.
  • Actively promotes safety, production, and quality standards.
  • Is directly responsible for meeting company and customer requirements on all parts.
  • Attends organization and department meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities & Duties:

- Cleans, deburrs, and completes cosmetic finishing of machined parts utilizing burr knife, file, emery paper, countersink, cratex scotch-brite and other tools and supplies.

- Set up, use and operate speed heads, wire brush and scotch brite wheels, bench grinder, polisher, degreaser, washers, and other associated tools to produce conforming parts.

- Works in partnership with the department supervisor, quality and engineering departments to ensure that product quality standards are meet and maintained. If a quality issue is noticed at any time during the entire process, must stop the production process and immediately communicate the issue with your supervisor and Quality Department.

Required Skills
