Job Description
Assistant Procurement Manager

Plastics | Rubber | Polymer Manufacturing

Own the Supply Chain Behind High-Performance Materials

Join a growing plastics and elastomer manufacturing organization supplying critical materials into industrial and engineered applications. This role sits at the center of operations - overseeing raw material sourcing, supplier performance, and procurement strategy that directly impacts production, cost, and quality.

If you understand the pressures of manufacturing - volatile resin pricing, supplier constraints, and production deadlines - this is a chance to step into a high-visibility, impact-driven role.

What You'll Do

Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Manage sourcing and negotiations for resins, polymers, additives, and operating supplies
  • Build strong supplier partnerships to ensure cost control, quality, and supply reliability
  • Evaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery, pricing accuracy) and drive improvements
  • Analyze supplier bids and support contract negotiations and awards
Manufacturing & Operations Support
  • Partner with production, technical, and planning teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow
  • Proactively manage supply risks including shortages, price fluctuations, and quality issues
  • Resolve material challenges impacting production schedules and customer commitments
  • Support ERP and process improvement initiatives tied to procurement and planning
Inventory & Production Planning
  • Oversee raw material and packaging inventory aligned to forecast and production demand
  • Balance working capital with supply continuity in a make-to-stock / make-to-order environment
  • Support vendor-managed inventory and supplier stocking programs
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
  • Drive process improvements in procurement and supplier performance
  • Support budgeting, reporting, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, safety, and environmental regulations
✅ What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience in plastics, rubber, or chemical manufacturing
  • Experience sourcing resins, elastomers, polymers, or related raw materials
  • 1+ year in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong negotiation skills with direct supplier management experience
  • Understanding of pricing dynamics and supply chain challenges in polymer markets
  • ERP system experience and strong Excel/data skills
  • Knowledge of import/export or global sourcing is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a plant + office environment with cross-functional teams
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Direct impact on production continuity and material cost control
  • Exposure to volatile and strategic raw material markets (resins/elastomers)
  • High collaboration with operations, engineering, and leadership
  • Opportunity to influence supplier strategy and long-term sourcing decisions
What Success Looks Like
  • Consistent, reliable supply of critical raw materials
  • Strong supplier partnerships delivering cost and service improvements
  • Reduced production disruptions tied to material shortages
  • Improved inventory accuracy and working capital efficiency
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step into a more strategic procurement role within plastics/rubber manufacturing, while still staying close to operations and making day-to-day impact.
