UCHealth, a Colorado-based, nonprofit health care system, is seeking an Occupational Therapist for our Inpatient Rehab (IRF) team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will deliver patient-centered, evidence-based occupational therapy services to adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of neurological, orthopedic, and medically complex conditions requiring intensive rehabilitation. Working as part of an interdisciplinary care team that includes physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other specialists, you will complete comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement goal-directed interventions that promote functional independence, safety, and quality of life. The Occupational Therapist will provide direct patient care across the continuum of the inpatient rehab stay, including initial assessments, daily treatment sessions, patient and family education, discharge planning, and coordination of follow-up services. Responsibilities include assessing functional abilities in activities of daily living, cognition, vision, perception, upper extremity function, fine motor skills, balance, and mobility, then using clinical reasoning to design and modify treatment approaches. You will utilize adaptive equipment, therapeutic activities, and compensatory strategies to maximize patient performance in self-care, home management, and community reintegration. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record is essential, as is participation in team conferences, goal setting, and outcome tracking. UCHealth emphasizes an innovative, diverse, and inclusive work environment focused on patient care excellence and continuous improvement. As an Occupational Therapist in the IRF setting, you will contribute to quality-improvement initiatives, adhere to regulatory and accreditation standards for inpatient rehabilitation facilities, and apply current best practices, clinical guidelines, and research findings in daily care. You will collaborate closely with nursing and medical staff to monitor patient status, modify treatment intensity and frequency, and address barriers to safe discharge. You may also serve as a resource for students and newly hired therapists, participate in staff education, and help shape clinical pathways that enhance patient outcomes and the overall patient experience. This position offers a supportive environment for professional growth with access to ongoing training, mentorship, and continuing education. UCHealth provides competitive benefits and encourages therapists to pursue advanced certifications or specialty training in areas such as neurorehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, or geriatrics. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program, licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of practice, and demonstrates strong communication skills, cultural competence, and a passion for working with patients recovering from significant illness or injury. The role requires flexibility to work in a fast-paced inpatient rehab environment, a commitment to safe patient handling, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve high standards of patient care and functional outcomes.
