Job Details

What You’ll Do

Lead daily laboratory operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable analytical and physical testing
Manage laboratory quality systems, testing procedures, and technical governance programs
Oversee product formulation and recipe control processes, including change management initiatives
Support manufacturing operations through troubleshooting, process analysis, and root-cause investigations
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing test variation, improving consistency, and optimizing lab performance
Evaluate and recommend enhancements to laboratory methods, raw materials, and testing procedures
Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and performance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, engineering, and R&D teams on product and process improvements
Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and technical excellence
Support specification control, product release processes, and compliance with quality standards
Assist with implementation and standardization of laboratory procedures across the operation

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
Master’s degree preferred

Experience
5–10+ years of industrial laboratory experience within manufacturing environments
Experience in refractory materials, ceramics, minerals, specialty chemicals, steel, or related process industries strongly preferred
Proven leadership experience managing laboratory operations and technical teams
Strong background in analytical techniques, quality control systems, and technical problem solving
Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting manufacturing process issues
Knowledge of raw material evaluation, finished product testing, and specification management
Familiarity with laboratory equipment management, preventive maintenance, and calibration programs
Experience implementing standardized laboratory procedures and best practices
Experience with LIMS systems is a plus
Experience with Leco instrumentation is a plus
