Certified Asthma & COPD Educator
The Certified Asthma & COPD Educatorwill be an expert in the field of Asthma and COPD disease management, including teaching, educating, managing, monitoring, and providing self-management skills to the Asthma/COPD patient, and family/caregiver. The individual will be a resource to Lee Health and the community in the field of Asthma and COPD disease management. The individual will work to identify patient and family barriers to the treatment and management of Asthma and COPD, including providing resources to address social, economic, and financial barriers.
Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree in the prospective health care field required.
Experience: Two years of experience in his or her health care field, including in the care of the asthma and COPD patient.
Certifications: Certified Asthma Educator through the National Board for Respiratory Care- AE-C required . BLS certification required. Completion and passing of the Pulmonary Disease Educator Course is required within three months from the date of hire through the American Association for Respiratory Care.
License: Must have a license in one of the following health care fields: Respiratory Therapy (RRT) or Nursing (RN) through the Florida Department of Health.
Other: The individual must have excellent communication skills.
